What are the characteristics of a quality teacher?
When I think of a quality teacher, I always go back to 3rd grade, sitting at corner desk next to the huge window and listening to Mrs. Paisley act out the story as she read from a chapter book. I usually did not like being read to, but Mrs. Paisley transformed reading into a theatrical forum. Mrs. Paisley was the kind of teacher who had the heart of a child, and was not afraid to make a fool of herself. Yet, even with her spontaneous bursts of childlike enthusiasm, we knew we could trust her to be the adult we could depend upon and trust. We knew she cared about us first, and cared about our education second. Mrs. Paisley is just the sort of teacher who’d I like to become: dependable, confident, intelligent, free-spirited, humble, and, most of all, passionate.
